6 Start off by thinking about Who the people in the picture could be Their relation to each other Why the photograph was taken When the photograph was taken Next, choose a character and imagine that you are that person If you are going to be one of the females, write a letter to the Front to one of the men in the photograph imagining that he is your brother, father, friend or son. You may like to tell that person a little about what is going on at home, how things have changed while they have been away and who else you have heard from. If you are one of the males then write a letter from the Front to a member of your family, or maybe a friend who has been wounded. You may like to tell them a little about the conditions in Flanders, the food, the local people … Remember that you would not want to worry your family too much – and letters were censored!!
