2 2 The Energy Act 2011 contains powers so that from 2016 landlords should not be able to refuse reasonable requests for consent to install Green Deal measures from their tenants. From 2018 landlords should ensure their privately rented properties meet a minimum energy efficiency standard or that they have installed the maximum package of measures under the Green Deal.

If you have a boiler that is less than 86% efficient it should be replaced (your EPC will confirm this)

What you can claim You can claim Landlord’s Energy Saving Allowance for the costs of buying and installing the following energy-saving products for properties you rent out: cavity wall and loft insulation solid wall insulation draught-proofing hot water system insulation floor insulation Owning more than one property You can claim a maximum allowance of £1,500 for each house, flat or bedsit you rent out.
