2 Main Objective: –Reduce paperwork obligations, simplify processes and provide an online platform for the 80 most demanded transactions associated to the business community, especially small enterprises, to let them concentrate on revenue generating activities. Results: –To date, 55 services have been simplified and put on- line. By the end of 2005 this figure will increase to 70 and during 2006 to 80. –Impact areas: creation of new businesses, simplification of export clearance documentation, facilitation of work relationships, streamline tax and environmental documentation, among others. 3 C H I L E Active Government Policy in favor of Modernization and Simplification of Processes. Emphasis on e-Government services for Businesses. ICT Infrastructure at affordable prices to allow businesses to be connected. Fairly organized private sector demand pro simplification of processes. Complementary support actions: i) Community Access to Internet for SMEs; ii) Digital Literacy Plans for Micro Enterprises; iii) Information Portals to Support Management. Support from broad, transversal initiatives that helped to institutionalize and validate processes. Environmental Drivers

4 C H I L E The most relevant transactions were identified with the help of the business community. Institutions were assessed in terms of their maturity and willingness to participate in the initiative. A demonstrative effect based on success stories was pursed. A co-financing model was adopted. Participant Institutions were incorporated into a consortium. Performance agreements were signed to establish common criteria. A joint communications policy was established to guarantee common and coherent public exposure. A high level Executive Secretariat provided facilitation, promotion and evaluation.
