3 CREATING A SPACE Location – Defined space – Near others areas to sharing of materials Furnishings – Furnishing that are familiar to a home environment Suggested Materials – Clothing and accessories – Real pots and pans – Home like touches – Other cultural items Consider the ability level of you kids – Younger – more realistic objects; older – open ended objects – Limit the amount of props so that its not overwhelming Ask you kids...“What else do we need?” & follow their lead!

4 TEACHER’S ROLE- INTERACT WITH THE CHILDREN Role Playing – Modeling – Expanding Using Props – Expanding play From realistic objects to imaginary play Make Believe – Expanding their play ideas Sustaining Play – Encourage kids to play longer than they typically would Interacting – Facilitate play between kids at their level Communicating – Comment, Comment, Comment!!!!
