Serving God Mat 22:35-38 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, (36) Master, which is the great commandment in the law? (37) Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. (38) This is the first and great commandment.

Serving God  There is more to this than merely saying that we love God  We are to love God with all of our being  Give Him our heart

Serving God  This involves seeking God on all levels  Love God’s goodness  Love God’s righteousness  Love God’s mercy  Love God’s word  Pray, study, worship to draw closer to Him

Serving God  Jesus saw fit to express to this lawyer the second commandment, though he didn’t ask  Mat 22:39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

Serving God  There is more to serving God than prayer, study, and formal worship  God also desires that we show mercy and kindness and serve our fellow man

Serving God  Mic 6:8 He hath showed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

Serving God  Do justly: to do what is right, to mistreat no one  Love mercy: to be willing to forgive, to be merciful to others  To walk humbly with our God: to let Him lead, without our murmuring or complaining about the course through which God takes us
