The Incarnation Incarnation: The word incarnate means ‘in flesh’. What are these pictures trying to tell us about the incarnation?

Learning Objective: To enquire into the idea of the incarnation and evaluate its importance for Christians today.

Wedge of Sin = The incarnation The word ‘incarnation’ means ‘in flesh’. Christians believe that Jesus was God incarnate or God in human form. They believe that Jesus acts as a bridge between the human world which is full of sin and heaven where they can live eternally with God. If Christians believe in God and seek forgiveness for their sins, they can enter heaven.

Wedge of Sin GOD HUMANS S I N What has happened to separate them? How can we bridge the gap? JE US

The Nativity Christians believe that Jesus was the incarnation and was born in a stable. As you know from our previous lesson, the idea of the nativity shows that Jesus was humble. However, would it be different if it happened again?

If you were God and came to live on earth for a while, what would you choose? What would you look like? Where would you live? What job would you have? Learning Objective: To enquire into the idea of the incarnation and evaluate its importance for Christians today.

But how is Jesus the incarnation? Watch the following clip from The Lord of the Rings; the two towers. The situation for Aragorn and King Theodin is desperate as they have been fighting all night and most of their forces have been crushed They face a no-win situation: Stay and fight and die, or ride out and fight and die. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51oEk21ax5A

But how does that relate to Jesus? Things weren’t going well for Aragorn and King Theodin. Gandalf turned up and saved the day. He was their Saviour. Christians believe that Jesus was sent as the incarnation to humanity when things weren’t going well. Christians believe that if they are sorry for their sins they can be forgiven through the sacrifice of Jesus and live eternally in heaven with God.
