2 Phase 1 Walkden High and Irlam & Cadishead College – both are fully operational and there are no issues. Both buildings have been very well received by the schools and the communities. Laing O’Rourke have won ‘Considerate Contractor’ awards for both of these projects, Irlam gained a silver award and Walkden a bronze award. The facilities management aspect of this PFI contract has been well initiated and the new arrangements are working well. Phase 1b Oasis Academy is on schedule and will be ready for opening in September 2012 as planned. The building is externally complete and is looking really good on its site. The Salford BSF programme is now progressing smoothly and all phases are currently on schedule. The team of LA officers and private sector partners are working efficiently together to achieve steady progress in all phases.

3 Phase 2 St Patricks is currently being constructed and is ahead of schedule. This school project is being monitored closely by Laing O’Rourke as it is being used by the company as a national showcase project. The school is scheduled to open Easter 2013. St Ambrose Barlow is progressing well and a recent groundbreaking ceremony has been held by the school. This school is on programme to open with St Patricks at Easter 2013. Moorside High and Primary is progressing well and is also on schedule. This combined 2 school building is the largest construction project of the phase and will open in September 2013
