Using ICT to support Numeracy Outcomes The Knox network of Numeracy Leaders

How do we use ICT? For assessment For planning As a teaching tool To support lessons As evidence of learning ICT in its various forms has, and will continue to have, an important place to play in the teaching and learning of mathematics. New forms of web-based technology have the potential to create new “spaces” for learning in all subjects. In particular, they have the potential to engage students as active contributors to their own learning, and to re-define the times and spaces when and where learning occurs. Numeracy in practice: Teaching, learning and using mathematics Paper no. 18, DEECD

Mathematics Developmental Continuum Scaffolding Numeracy in the Middle Years Improving student learning in Mathematics Professiona l Learning Maths Online Interview Learning & Teaching support Fractions and Decimals Interview The Maths Domain Page Research Assessment for Common Misunderstandings

Maths online and fractions and decimals interviews help teachers to…. Understand individual students’ needs Find out how students ‘think’ and ‘feel’ while doing mathematical tasks Gain insight into student thought process in action Generate detailed profiles showing students’ achievement in relation to points of growth Track student growth over time Inform planning for focused teaching at the point of need

VCAA on demand testing Welcome to On Demand Testing The On Demand Testing Program has been developed to enable teachers to assess student achievement through access to tests prepared by the VCAA. This program is available for students in Years 2-10. For more information and to register your school's interest in On Demand Testing click here For the technical requirements of using the program at your school click here To access On Demand Testing, you must be registered.
