2 Steps for Solving: 1.Isolate the radical work backwards through PEMDAS (always undo ± first) 2. Use inverse operations to undo the radical Undo square root by squaring Undo a cube root by cubing (and so on…)

7 Extraneous Solutions Sometimes squaring each side of an equation can produce an extraneous, or false, solution (i.e. it is not actually a solution). You must CHECK all of your answers by plugging them back into the radical equation to make sure it results in a TRUE statement
