1 Presidential Posts … By Madison Our first meeting! Yay! I’m so excited! How about you? I’m sure it will go well, but we still need all of the prayer that we can get. It’s going to be an exciting year, and we are all so glad to share it with you! Our first service project will be Operation Christmas Child. If you have a shoebox, bring it. Then, you will follow the instructions on the brochure. All filled boxes will be due no later than November 17. Reeder’s Requests/Praises: Good news! Brandon Cole is home. Ms. Cox checked on him, and his mother reports that he is doing better. Continue to keep him in your prayers. Also, keep Holton Helms in prayer as he continues to search for answers to his illness. We lift up Scott Ledford as he hears results soon from Birmingham. Also, members, continue to pray for our meetings! Kara’s Korner… Testimony offered by: Dawn Wade Recently, I have learned a valuable lesson about walking away from trouble. I have just become a Christian, which I am going to tell you about, but I also have just learned that you don’t stop having trouble when you become a Christian. People still talk! It is up to me though to walk away from this, because I am someone else now. I have learned a lot. I was at my church this summer for VBS. I had been having a lot of trouble at home and needed someone to talk to, so there was someone there. He asked me out of nowhere, “Are you saved? Do you know the Lord as your Savior?” I’ve been going for about two years, but I wasn’t saved. So, when the preacher asked us to raise our hands if we wanted to be saved, I had my hand up!! He prayed with me. I just felt ten times better! I could not stop smiling, so I told Gavin what happened to me! He was proud. I ran home and told mom what happened. She was so happy. I told Mrs. Hales at school, too. She was smiling and happy. I have advice for you now about my situation with enemies. When someone is mouthing off, just walk away from them, make a funny face, or decide to be their friend! It is never okay to single someone out, because they could be going through the same things as you! From the Secretaries’ desks… By Jacob, Joanna, Brianna, and Matt Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. 1 Timothy 4: 12 Brandon’s Songs… Forever Give thanks to the Lord, our God and King. His love endures forever. For he is good, He is above all things. His love endures forever. (Chorus) Sing praise, sing praise. Forever God is faithful, forever God is strong, Forever God is with us, forever, forever. With a mighty hand and outstretched arm, His love endures forever. For the life that’s been reborn, His love endures forever. (Chorus) From the rising to the setting sun, His love endures forever. And by the grace of God we will carry on. His love endures forever. (Chorus) JR. BASIC NEWS at the cross Sierra’s Surprises… In Memory by Michelle Lyn McPeters What was it you had said? Why did you have to go? Each simple little memory Now passes by so slow. I am stuck in the yesterday Not wanting to accept The horrid truth that you are gone Your life taken without threat This morning you awoke To face a brand new day But a cold-hearted terrorist Took that gift away Though the grave cry for the lost In the settling of the dust They failed to shake our foundation For in God we put our trust. September, 2008

2 Forever Give thanks to the Lord, our God and King. (Chorus) Come, Now Is the Time to Worship (Chorus) Come, now is the time to worship. Come, now is the time to give your heart. Come, just as your are, to worship. Come, just as your are, before your God. Come. One day ev’ry tongue will confess You are God. One day ev’ry knee will bow. Still, the greatest treasure remains for those Who gladly choose You now. (Chorus) Operation Christmas Child Jr. BASIC is going to participate this year by getting the word out to our members and collecting the boxes to deliver. Just follow the directions on the brochure. Be sure to include the shipping fee, so we can mail the box. Our final day for collection will be November 17. Please have your box wrapped with the envelope filled out and $7 shipping for each box inside when you turn it in. The box should be wrapped so that the lid can still come off. The drop off point is Mrs. Hales’s room. If you don’t think you can contribute a box, but you would like to help by bringing $7, you may do so. Please take your money to Mrs. Hales. If you would like to contribute but can’t wrap it, bring it anyway. We will get brochures for everyone by next month.
