Jean-Christophe Gayde CERN-EST/SUEDMS Id: 39058711 Juin 2003 ATLAS TILE CALORIMETER PRE-ASSEMBLY SURVEY DATA ANALYSIS CO-ORDINATE SYSTEM DEFINITION 11 Juin 2003 PRE ASSEMBLY SURVEY SYSTEM LOCAL SYSTEM OF TILE MODULES – FIDUCIALISATION PROPOSAL FOR A TILE SYSTEM LINK TO THE NOMINAL TILE GEOMETRY INSTALLED ON THE BEAM LINE INSIDE THE CAVERN TRANSFORMATION OF MEASURED POINTS FROM SURVEY SYSTEM TO TILE SYSTEM EXAMPLE OF TRANSFORMATION USING ALL MODULE FIDUCIAL MARKS EXAMPLE OF TRANSFORMATION USING SADDLE FIDUCIAL MARKS NAMING OF THE FIDUCIAL MARKS

PRE ASSEMBLY SURVEY SYSTEM  ORIGIN: centred on the cradle and z = 0 at the level of the theoretical axis of the Tile sitting on the Cradle - I. Nikitine, October 2002  Ysu axis: The direction of the Y axis is defined by the line between the two centre points of the extreme supports of the cradle faces BACK and FRONT, Y is horizontal  Xsu axis: The direction of the X axis is defined perpendicular to the Y axis and passing through the line centred on the 2 grooves (width 2mm) at the middle of the cradle plates, X is horizontal  Zsu axis: The Z axis is vertical and is perpendicular to the X and Y axis, positive to the top See the document: EDMS number: ATL-LE-UR-0031 The Survey System was defined just after the Cradle installation It was linked to the Cradle position at this moment Survey System is not moving with the TILE/CRADLE/SADDLE It is not changed during the preassembly, except some refresh Jean-Christophe Gayde CERN-EST/SUEDMS Id: 39058711 Juin 2003 SURVEY SYSTEM DEFINITION

SU System is materialised by a survey network fixed to the stable structure of the Building 185 Survey network: Survey points on the floor and 1m wall – far away from Tile – for vertical stability measurements Survey brakets link to the Salève side wall, 2 levels Survey tripods and brackets fixed to the Jura side survey towers, 2 levels SU System is needed for the survey measurements (link to the vertical) Hall 185 Top view PRE ASSEMBLY SURVEY SYSTEM Jean-Christophe Gayde CERN-EST/SUEDMS Id: 39058711 Juin 2003

LOCAL SYSTEM OF TILE MODULES - FIDUCIALISATION Origin for Extended Barrel Module: Middle of the bottom Girder edge on the ITC side; Origin for Barrel Module: Middle of the bottom Girder plane; X axis: in the mean plane of the 4 girder reference points, perpendicular to the Y axis; Y axis: in the mean plane of the 4 girder reference points, coincided with the girder longitudinal axis; Z-axis: perpendicular to the mean plane of the 4 girder reference points, positive to the top. FM-FB FM-FM FM-FT FM-IT FM-IB IGL IGR FGR FGL Extended Barrel Module Module System: Used for fiducial marks positionning and control for each individual module Jean-Christophe Gayde CERN-EST/SUEDMS Id: 39058711 Juin 2003

Origin: IP theoretical position XT: Perp. to ZT and in the plane between modules position 32-33 and 01-64, positive to “LHC” centre; YT: Perp. To XT ZT, positive to the top; ZT : Along the Tile Axis, positive from C to A side. EBC PROPOSAL FOR A TILE SYSTEM LINK TO THE NOMINAL TILE GEOMETRY INSTALLED ON THE BEAM LINE INSIDE THE CAVERN Jean-Christophe Gayde CERN-EST/SUEDMS Id: 39058711 Juin 2003

TO GIVE THE MEASURED XYZ IN THE TILE SYSTEM: WE PROPOSE TO USE THE SADDLE END BEAM POINTS – CLOSE TO THE ATLAS RAILS - FOR THE CALCULATION OF THE TRANSFORMATION PARAMETERS SADDLE END BEAM POINTS USED FOR THE CALCULATION OF THE TRANSFORMATION PARAMETERS EBC TRANSFORMATION OF MEASURED POINTS FROM SURVEY SYSTEM TO TILE SYSTEM 3D TRANSFORMATION FROM SYST A TO SYST B: Calculation of best fit translation and rotation parameters using a set of points known in both systems application of these parameters to all the points known in syst. 9 Recent Proposal from Kathy Pommès and Matthew Sharp Document under approval Tile Calorimeter Naming Conventions ATC-OP-QA-0004 Survey marker name = 4.. Marker locations for all systems are of the form: SF_NN, where: S = Survey Marker; F = Face of Slot; NN = Marker position on face For the Tile: refers to the side of the module the marker is situated on: A or C I, M or O, inner, middle or outer radius.
