Born in Atlanta Georgia His father was the pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church at the time His mother was the daughter of the previous church before his father He had two siblings; his older sister Christine and younger brother A.D.

Skipped 9 th through 12 th grade Entered Morehouse College at the age of 12 th Pursued a career in the ministry after his junior year Was ordained a minister during the February of 1948.

During Sept. 1948, starts a bachelor of divinity program at Crorzer Theological Seminary, where he later on won the student body president. Graduated in 1951 as a valedictorian Met Coretta Scott while at Boston University, whom he later married during June of 1953 in Alabama.

In November,1955, his wife gave birth to their first child, Yolanda. Was drafted as president and principal spokesman for the MIA. ( Montgomery Improvement Association ) Note: MIA was launched a few hours after the arrest. He fought violence with nonviolence during the crisis, after his house was shook by a terrorist bomb blast.

Found SCLC (Southern Christian Leadership Conference) Was on the cover of Time magazine after the successful boycott Over 250,000 multiracial people attended King’s “I Have a Dream” speech.

Won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 Was shot to death on the evening of April 4 th, 1968 Mr. King's birthday is now a national holiday that’s celebrated on the third of every January
