You are going to walk around the drama space and I will call out a name of a person, animal or object and I want you to position yourself in a still image, in a position that reflects them best. For instance: As the prime minister I may stand like this… What is it about my body tells you I am a prime minister?

The use of space and levels can reflect to the audience how important and confident a character is, as well as their personality. Your teenager image was very different to your soldier image, one stood slouched, one tall and strong. This indicates to the audience the type of character this is.

Remember to think about their body posture, gesture and facial expression: –The character of Harry Potter –The president of the USA –A sad, lonely teenager at school –A bold, confident and intimidating thug.

I will give you more details as we go along, but ensure you apply your new knowledge about the use of space, levels, facial expression, body language and gesture.
