Welcome to Algebra for All – Year 2 Day 1

Ice Breaker  Find the table tent with the matching representation of your function.  Meet your table mates and share with them the function family to which your function belongs.  As a group, come up with the remaining representations (verbal, tabular, graphical, algebraic and real-world)  Find your function family group and share your representations.  Be prepared to share one of the function families with the large group using the ELMO and the TI-84.

Year 2 of AFA CONTENT - Teachers deepen understanding of functions-based algebra with connections to the Common Core State Standards and the High School Content Expectations and plan beginning of year unit around the Shapes of Algebra

Year 2 of AFA PEDAGOGY - Teachers build pedagogical capacity to meet the learning needs of all students lessons, selecting through commitment to participation in a professional learning community that includes social networking and attending monthly meetings, preparing and observing classroom rich mathematical tasks for their students and maintaining the cognitive level of the task, and the use of technology in their teaching and their student learning

Year 2 of AFA ASSESSMENT - Teachers use formative assessment, such as student work and verbal responses, to inform instruction to meet learning needs of diverse learners
