2 Instructions According to your identification slips, please divide yourselves into groups of three. You will need one piece of paper for your group. Each student will serve as “secretary” for one question, so there should be three different handwritings on your paper when you turn it in!

3 Question #1 What do you think about the fight between Curly and Lennie? What does the fight tell you about the character of each man?

4 Question #2 Why do you think George stopped Slim from interfering and saving Lennie? Why did he call out “Get him, Lennie!” instead of letting Slim stop it? Do you agree with his decision? Why or why not?

5 Question #3 What do you think about Carlson’s insistence upon killing Candy’s dog? Was he right or wrong? Why did Candy want to keep the dog alive, despite his pain and suffering? (Really try to “get into” Candy’s head on this question…….WHY is this old, smelly, hurting dog so important to him? What does he represent for Candy?)
