2 Team Work Infection Prevention and Control is everybody's responsibility Our multidisciplinary team includes members from the following departments : –ED –Housekeeping –ICU –Infection Prevention and Control –Inpatient and Outpatient Areas –Infection Prevention and Control –Microbiology –Performance Improvement –Respiratory Therapy –Senior Management Signage reminds patients and visitors that it is OK to ask about Hand Hygiene

3 Actions Hand Hygiene: Handwashing with soap and water when working with patients with infectious diarrhea –Alcohol based hand hygiene products are located conveniently throughout the facility –Hand Hygiene Monitoring: Do you know a secret shopper? Contact Precautions –For patients with known or suspected infectious diarrhea Environment of Care –Two step cleaning and disinfection process with bleach for patient rooms –100% cubicle curtain replacement after discharge of patients on precautions Antimicrobial Stewardship Staff, patient and visitor education Joined the World Health Organization initiative on 5/5/09 –Held a Hand Hygiene Fair with the message: Save Lives…Clean Your Hands
