3 History  Sir Humphrey Davy and Gay- Lussac and Thenard in 1808.  It was named for the Arabic word Buraq and the Persian word Burah.

4 Uses BBBBoron is obtained by heating borax with carbon. IIIIt is used in pyrotechnics and flares for the green color. IIIIt has also been used as an ignition source. BBBBoron-10 is a good absorber of neutrons and is used in control rods of nuclear reactors.

5 Facts  Boron’s melting point is 2075° C  It’s boiling point is 4000° C  Only diamond is harder than boron carbide.  Boron can be found in foods like pears, apples, nuts, and wine.
