Turning Inside Out For God Text: 2 nd Corinthians 5:8-13

How can I have an outward focus?

I can have an outward focus: 1. Because I am confident. (vs 8,9)

Because he was confident: He focused on God. He focused on others. He did not focus on self.

2 Timothy 1:12- “For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.”

Proverbs 16:3- “Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.”

Example #1- Moses- Exodus 14

Example #2- Philippians 2:12- “Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.”

Ephesians 1:6- “To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.” 2 Corinthians 5:9- “Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.”

Psalms 27:1-3- > “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.”

Hebrews 13:5-6 – “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.”

I can have an outward focus: 1. Because I am confident. (vs 8,9) 2. Because I fear God. (vs. 10,11)

Romans 14:10-13 – “But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.”

1 Corinthians 3:12-15- “Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.”

I can have an outward focus: 1. Because I am confident. (vs 8,9) 2. Because I fear God. (vs. 10,11) 3. Because I have a mission. (vs. 11(b)-13)

1st Peter 4:17-19- “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.”

How about turning “inside out” for God tonight?
