2 Checking a Conscious Victim Conducting an interview: What happened Do you feel pain or discomfort anywhere? Do you have any allergies? Do you have any medical conditions? Are you taking any medications?

3 Checking a Conscious Victim Head to toe Check: Check scalp, face, ears, mouth and nose Do not move any areas where there is pain Look for cuts, bruises, bumps Notice if person is drowsy or confused Skin changes Breathing changes Ask person to move body parts that do not hurt Look for medical tag

4 Types of Transports A. Non-Emergency Moves A. Walking assist B. Two-person Carry B. Emergency Moves A. Pack-strap Carry B. Clothes Drag C. Blanket Drag D. Ankle Drag E. Person in water

5 Never Transport a Victim………. When trip may cause additional injury When the person has developed a life- threatening emergency If you are unsure of the injury or illness

6 Checking an Unconscious Victim Tap him or her to see if okay (infant tap on the feet) If no response, call 911 Position victim on their back Open up the airway using a head tilt and chin lift Check for breathing for no more than 10 seconds
