Checking a Conscious Victim Head to toe Check: Check scalp, face, ears, mouth and nose Do not move any areas where there is pain Look for cuts, bruises, bumps Notice if person is drowsy or confused Skin changes Breathing changes Ask person to move body parts that do not hurt Look for medical tag

6. Checking an Unconscious Victim Tap him or her to see if okay (infant tap on the feet) If no response, call 911 Position victim on their back Open up the airway using a head tilt and chin lift Check for breathing for no more than 10 seconds
