1 Independent schools in England

2 An independent school in the United Kingdom is a school that is not financed through the taxation system by local or national government, and is instead funded by private sources, predominantly in the form of tuition charges, gifts and long-term charitable endowments, and so not subject to the conditions of "maintained status" imposed by accepting state financing.

3 Prep schools Preparatory schools are for pupils aged up to 13. And public schools are for 13–19. these schools are expensive (6000 – 9000 pounds a year) and they are attended by no more than 5 per cent of the schoolchildren.

4 Exams At 16 pupils take a national exam called «G.C.S.E.» (General Certificate of Secondary Education). Many people decide to leave school at the age of 16, and then can go to a Further Education College where they choose more practical courses. If pupils have good marks in two-five subjects subjects are necessary to get a place at one of British universities.
