4 Vocabulary: Variable Definition: A symbol for a number that can change or we don’t know yet EXAMPLE: X, Y, T, P

5 Vocabulary: Term Definition: Either a number or a variable in an expression EXAMPLE: 4X - 7

6 Vocabulary: Coefficient Definition: A number (known or unknown) that multiplies a variable or quantity EXAMPLE: 4X 3(X-2)

7 Vocabulary: Constant Definition: A number on its own that does not change EXAMPLE: 6X - 2 4X - C
