4. Miracles Described and Defined 1. A miracle is what nature would not do on its own without special divine intervention. 2. Miracles have a good moral impact. 3. Miracles involve some truth claim about God. 4. Miracles are vital to Christianity because eternal salvation hinges on Jesus’ resurrection from the dead. The purpose of apostolic miracles: Confirming the gospel (Mark 16:20) Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it. (Acts 14:3) So Paul and Barnabas spent considerable time there, speaking boldly for the Lord, who confirmed the message of his grace by enabling them to do miraculous signs and wonders.
