5 “Genetics for Dummies” Extra Credit  Make an informational handout explaining how to do Punnett Squares  8.5 x 11- should be neat but not pretty Include:  Simple, dihybrid, incomplete dominance, codominance, and X-linked traits  Each one needs an original example, with steps for how to solve it Due Date: next time!

8 This Unit’s Focus: DNA! What does it do? How does it do it? Why should you care?

9 Code Words Activity DNA is a code that contains information to make something important…proteins that make up you! (more on that later)  In your lab group, split up the code words.  Figure out what your code words are. You can use the internet if you’d like!

10 Code Words Activity In your lab book: 1. Record the class code words 2. Answer these 3 questions: A. Would you have been able to read the code words without finding guidelines online? Explain your answer. B. Morse coding only uses two symbols: dashes and dots. Could the same code be used to make more words? Explain your answer. C. The letter ‘e’ is part of many words. Give three examples of how the addition of an ‘e’ at the end of a word alters its meaning.
