5 General Issues identified from research: The individual and group experience of prejudice and discrimination Too few opportunities to engage with challenging texts and materials Lack of recognition of the experiences, skills and needs of students Lack of provision of language and literacy opportunities that foster achievement Lack of analysis of Pasifika learners’ assessment results to determine actions to accelerate progress Lack of innovative approaches to engage Pasifika families & communities Low expectations For some Pasifika students poverty can affect their learning
