Hello, greetings from all the children of Bakoteh Annex Lower Basic School to all of you at St. Gregory’s Catholic Primary School. How are you all?

We really like being twinned and having you guys to be our friends. The twinning makes us happy and allow us to share information that help us to understand life around your end too.

We just finished our end of term test now, guess what we thought of!!! We wish to send you guys a power point on what we have been learning. we are happy that you guys still continue to be our friends.

Hello, in our Integrated Studies we have been learning about sources of water in the Gambia. We are happy to share what we have learnt with you guys. Where we get our water may be different from where you get your water.

Our traditional source of water is the well, there are special people whose occupation is to dig wells to get underground water. Wells here can be 4 to 7 meters deep depending on how close the place is to the nearest river. We tie a rope on a bucket to use to get water from the well.

Another source of water is the tap. We have taps too in our homes for those who can afford to pay its bill. For safe drinking, we put water in our jars from the tap.

The readily available source is the river. We do get water from river Gambia for agricultural purposes where the river water is not salty. For example river water is pump to Jahally and Pachar rice fields, the country’s major rice farms.

The last source of water in The Gambia is the rain water. Farmers got their water from this source. A lot of farmers stay home during the dry season without working because their own water is not available.

The weather in the Gambia is very cold in the morning and late in the evening into the night too. Its usually hot in the afternoon. It has ceased to rain since around mid October.

The water melons are in season at the moment. They are in bulk available in our local markets for sale. One cost for D50. We enjoy drinking them now.

We seize this opportunity to wish all of you a merry Christmas and a happy new year from the Gambia.

We hope you enjoy watching our power point. We say bye for now and hope to hear from you guys. Byee!!
