View From the Top “You’ve climbed the Highest mountain in the world. What’s left? It’s all downhill From there. You’ve got to set your sights On something higher than Everest.”..Will Unsoeld, Everest Climber, 1963

What is higher than Everest? God –. We must set our sights on the Highest— God of the universe!. As Christians we realize we have been raised to the highest heights.

Our Answer:

Colossians 3:1-4 Set Your Mind On Things Above

Colossians 3:1-4 1 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.

How are we raised with Christ? Rom. 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Set your Mind On Things Above (vv. 1-4) Colossians 3

But there will be this difference - from now on the Christian will see everything in the light and against the background of eternity. He will no longer live as if this world was all that mattered; he will see this world against the background of the larger world of eternity. William Barclary, The Letters to the Philippians, Colossians, and Thessalonians, 177.

Why We Seek Things Above A. Raised with Christ (v. 1) B. Christ is setting at Right Hand (v. 1) C. You Died (v. 3]

Set your Mind…. Rufus Clifford once said: “Your Mindset Determines Everything” Rom. 8:6 “For to be carnally minded is death: but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”

Why? 1. Why is it folks can’t make it to service but one time a week and yet they can attend a ball game and sit and watch a double header, or not miss one single meeting at school or work or even in some cases attend these functions sick? It is their Mindset!

2. Why is it that folks respect the laws of this land and readily accept their responsibility to obey them and yet try to disprove the law of God and show little regard for God’s authority today? It is their mind-set! They have brought God down to man’s level and in their minds they no longer respect and regard God’s law! What is wrong? It is their mind-set!

Our mind-set determines 1. How we dress…I Tim. 2:8-10 2. How we speak…Eph. 4:32 3. How we live each day…Psalm 118:24 God must be placed FIRST! Matt. 6:33

Think about: 1. Meeting Jesus face to face…Matt. 7:21-23 2. Being Judged by God through Jesus. Acts 17:30-31 3. Being in Heaven/Hell for Eternity.. Matt. 25:46

Are we Spiritually Minded or Carnally Minded? We need To Get it Right…. Put it Right… And keep it right..!

Set Your Mind On Things Which are Above!
