2  An observation is the perception of the environment by one or more human senses.  Ex: sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell.

3  I see students sitting at their desks.

4 Extend the use of our senses allowing for accurate observations

5 Scale/Triple Beam Balance: measures mass. Meter Stick – length Thermometer - temperature

6  Is an interpretation of an observation.  A conclusion that follows logically from the information you have.  Like what they do on CSI.

7  My students just came from the movie theater.  Make an inference about this room.

8  Group together similar objects and events so it’s easier to understand.  This is called classification.
