9. Employers Drive the Current Process Supporting a Payment System that Pays for: Services rather than outcomes Acute care not prevention Medical errors and “do overs” Services with no performance-based payment No measurement or standard for quality!

10. The problem…. Rising health care costs in America put local industry at a disadvantage. The opportunity… Industry leaders know that re-engineering and technology can drive improved quality and lower cost. This can be accomplished in the delivery of and payment for health care. Business Health Care Group Reports Savings Self-Funded Members See Aggregate 15 Percent Drop in Costs MILWAUKEE – Jan. 08, 2007 – Business Health Care Group’s self- funded member companies reporting data for the first half of 2006 saw a 15 percent drop in medical costs per health plan member, which translates into annualized savings of $26 million.
