1 OMNIGLOVE ABSTRACT This project will be a glove that can control home appliances such as lights, TV, stereo, and other electronics. The OmniGlove will utilize hand movements and gestures for intuitive home automation. This makes it especially useful for those who are visually impaired, along with the average user. 2 Block Diagram

3 Microcontroller Design Constraints  A Bluetooth module is used to send signals from the microcontroller to a Raspberry Pi mini-computer. Interfacing with the Bluetooth module requires a serial interface such as UART.  Five flex sensors will be used to detect the bending of the fingers. Interfacing with a flex sensor requires an analog to digital convertor.  A 9-axis sensor (which is a combination of a gyroscope, accelerometer, and compass) is used to detect the motions of the hand, such as gestures. This requires SPI to interface with the microcontroller.  A MP3 audio decoder, coupled with a small speaker, is used to play voice clips to the user. These provide feedback when gestures are performed or when an operating mode is selected. Interfacing with the audio decoder also requires SPI.  Total number of pins needed is approximately 46.
