2 Back in the day Significant limitations in interoperability Stove pipes Coverage area limitations Minimal expansion channels for large scale incidents Responder safety risk resulting for communication gaps

3 Pre-2015 Improvements were occurring Stove pipe system were being consolidated into common and shared Public Safety Systems Gaps in coverage areas were being closed Trunking allowed for expansion on large scale incidents Public Safety was sharing with each other.

4 Today Harford County now operates a 19 Channel P25 700/800 MHz Trunked Motorola System System Services 12 Fire/EMS Departments 3 Town Police Departments MDSP Bel Air Barrack Harford County SO Various Public Service Agencies DPW W&S Harford Transit

5 Are we there yet? The short answer – no, but we are making progress. We continue to move forward and take steps to eliminate interoperability limitations with jurisdictions that surround us through system key sharing, subscriber sharing, and routine conversations about interoperability. Some of our current challenges: Cecil County Fire/EMS and Law Enforcement mutual aid operations Inter-State interoperability with Pennsylvania Intra-State interoperability - MD First TDMA – FDMA – Dual Mode MOUs Aging equipment Some model radios incapable of TDMA

6 Where to from here? New ways to communicate Data Interoperability Harford County and MDSP Systems Interoperability CADs Phone Interoperability ANI/ALI on a transfer to a secondary
