3. PSIT – Four Teams 1 Physical and Neurological Impairment (PNI) 2 Hearing Impairment (HI) 3 Deafblindness (DB) 4 Visual Impairment (VI)

4. Children with Physical and Neurological Impairment (PNI) – PNI covers a very wide range of conditions – cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, juvenile arthritis for example. Children with these conditions and also those with life-limiting or deteriorating illnesses are likely to receive ENF. As are those with acquired brain injury or tumour.

5. Children with PNI – There are very many rare conditions, with a wide range of severity. Any child with PNI who is likely to be eligible for ENF will be on caseload of the team. Contact PNI Team for guidance.

6. Children with Hearing Impairment (HI) Children with the following may be eligible for ENF Degree of loss – severe or profound Will have powerful hearing aids or cochlear implants Impact on language – probably have a delay of two years or more

7. Children with Hearing Impairment (HI) Children with the following will probably not be eligible for ENF – Mild/Moderate degree of loss Language levels within age expectation Short term, conductive hearing loss “Glue Ear” Unilateral hearing loss

8. Children with Deafblindness (DB) Currently only 25 children across the county with DB in mainstream settings All are known to the team If you have, or are expecting to receive a child with DB….contact Liz Hodges!
