The 3 laws of Motion

What is motion anyway? Motion is a change in position, measured by distance and time.

Energy of Motion If two objects are moving at the same speed, but one object has a greater mass, then the object with the greater mass will have more kinetic energy. The more mass in an object, the more force needed to move it.

Velocity What is Velocity?

Sir Isaac Newton Isaac is famous for his discovery of gravity. He is also known for his three laws that explain all aspects of motion.

Newton’s First Law Inertia - An object at rest tends to stay at rest. An object in motion tends to stay in motion. Inertia is the term used to describe the tendency of an object to remain in motion or stay at rest.

Newton’s Second Law Force = Mass x Acceleration (F = ma) Acceleration is produced when a force acts on a mass. The greater the mass (of the object being accelerated) the greater the amount of force needed (to accelerate the object).

Newton’s Third Law For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.
