Worshipping with our wallet 1 Corinthians 10:31 – So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. Proverbs 3:9-10 - Honor the L ORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine. Deuteronomy 26:10 – And now I bring the firstfruits of the soil that you, O LORD, have given me." Place the basket before the LORD your God and bow down before him."

Giving extravagantly as worship 1 Chronicles 29:2-5 –With all my resources I have provided for the temple of my God—gold … silver for the silver, … all kinds of fine stone and marble—all of these in large quantities. 3 Besides, in my devotion to the temple of my God I now give my personal treasures of gold and silver for the temple of my God, over and above everything I have provided for this holy temple: 4 three thousand talents of gold and seven thousand talents of refined silver… for all the work to be done by the craftsmen. Now, who is willing to consecrate themselves to the L ORD today?” 3000 talents = 112 tons (a talent is 75 lbs.) = $4.28 billion now

Giving in gratitude for God’s grace (2 Corinthians 8:1-4)"And now, brothers, we want you to know about the grace that God has given the Macedonian churches. {2} Out of the most severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. {3} For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, {4} they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the saints.“ (2 Corinthians 8:8) “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich." (2 Corinthians 8:9)

Give to whom? And how much? Old TestamentNew Testament To Whom ? 1.Where they worshipped (priests, temple & upkeep, feasts) 2.Poor, widows, orphans hospitalitiy, etc. 1.Where they worshipped (full-time elders, travelling missionaries) 2.Poor, widows truly in need, orphans, hospitality, etc. How much ? 1.1 st tithe (10%) annually and 2 nd tithe every 3 rd year. 2.Many other voluntary gifts and offerings 1.As you decide in your heart, willingly, cheerfully (2 Corinthians 9:7) 2.Proportionately – as God prospers you (1 Cor. 16:2) 3.Consistently – 1 st day of the week (1 Cor. 16:2)

Five ways to honor God with the money we DON’T give 1.Worship: Worship leads to wisdom in life including money Proverbs 1:7 – The fear of the L ORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. 2.Humility: My worst financial mistake is an unteachable spirit but humility brings God’s blessing. Proverbs 13:18 – He who ignores discipline comes to poverty and shame, but whoever heeds correction is honored. 3.Frugality: Living below my means gives me financial margin, but spending it all brings poverty. Proverbs 21:20 – There is precious treasure and oil in the dwelling of the wise, But a foolish man swallows it up Proverbs 19:10 – It is not fitting for a fool to live in luxury…

Five ways to honor God with the money we DON’T give 4.Freedom or Debt: I choose the amount of financial freedom or slavery I have. Proverbs 22:7 - The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is the slave to the lender. 5.Surplus: Saving money means we have it when we need it. Proverbs 6:6-8 Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise… it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. Proverbs 13:11 … he who gathers money little by little makes it grow. Proverbs 21:20 – There is precious treasure and oil in the dwelling of the wise, But a foolish man swallows it up
