2 SHORT GAME SEQUENCE INFIELD OUTFIELD 1
C/2B/1B – throws to 1B, 2B cover Perfect Fly Ball Catching Technique P/SS/3B – throws to 3B, SS or 3B cover 2 P/2B/1B – throws to 1B, 2B cover C/3B/SS – throws to 3B or SS cover Drop steps going back on fly balls / routine catch 3 P/C/SS – throws to 2B – SS cover 3B/1B/2B – throws to 1B, 2B cover Drop step, running over the shoulder catches 4 P/2B/1B – alley work at 1B, communication and coverage C/3B/SS – throws to 2B, SS cover Drop step lateral catches 5 P/3B/SS – alley work at third, communication and coverage C/1B/2B – throws to 2B, 2nd cover (certain D situations) Running in for fly balls, low line drive 6 P/3B/C – flips to home, communication and tags. P/C/1B/2B/SS/3B - RH Hitter – bunt coverage for bunt / corners working together Slap coverage for hit / Corners working together Add runners for situations and any special bunt charges with signs Fence work, climb the fence, sliding into the fence 8 P/C/1B/2B/SS/3B – LH Slappers – Team count drill 2.5 seconds for Internal Clock. Bunt coverage for bunts / corners working together Slap coverage for taps / corners working together Coverage for power slaps / corners working together Add runners for situation and any special defense for slappers Sun work (shield with glove)

OUTFIELD 1 RUNNER ON 3rd: 1B/2B/SS/3B/P/C – Entire IF Tag plays at home, with catcher secondary throws to 2nd & 3rd All bases need to be covered for secondary throws Balls hit to 3rd baseman…Fake throw, rundown 2 BASES LOADED: entire infield 4-1 double plays, entire infield up, half way or creep Middle pinched – turn DP. Speed and direction take you to DP. Option defense: P/3B/1B goes 4 to 1. Middle go for DP. Two lines, mine & yours communication 3 DOUBLE PLAYS – 2B/SS/1B – feeds and pivots 3B – pop flies near fence & short left field P/C – Wild Pitch – catcher slides after ball, pitcher covers home One knee ground balls 4 DOUBLE PLAYS - 3B/2B/1B P/C – intentional walks R & L SS – drop steps to LF & CF pop ups and fence work Routine ground balls with infield fielding technique 5 DOUBLE PLAYS – P/C/SS – throws to 2B, SS fake to 1B, throw to 3B (2nd baseman point) 1B/2B – pop flies near fence and short right field and fence work 3B – cover 3rd for SS throws on secondary runner Crow hops, do or die ground balls 6 DOUBLE PLAYS – 1B/SS/2B – throws to 2nd to 1st, return throw to 3B 1st covers first on balls at them / 2nd covers first on balls taking 1st towards 2nd P/C – short pop ups / foul ball communication 3rd – taking throw from 1B, tag play Mine / Yours alley ground balls 7 PITCHER COMEBACKERS P/SS/2B – ground balls to P who has coverage of 2 system signs and coverage P/SS/3B – ground balls to P force or tag at 3B. 5 STRAIGHT STEALS & PICK-OFF SEQUENCE
INFIELD OUTFIELD INFIELD STRAIGHT STEALS 1 P/C/SS – straight steal 2B, SS cover/2B cover, signals and communication. With pitchouts. Execute with infield back, ½ way, and UP positions. With a swing and miss from slap or swing. RF/1B – ground ball base hits to RF, throws to 1B. LF/CF/3B – ground ball throws to 3B. 2 P/C/3B/SS – straight steals to 3B, covered by 3rd or SS, signals and communication on coverage 1B – Bad Balls – short hops, inside throws with tag RF/CF/LF – fence throws, one bounce, on the fly, partner flips, option throws to 2B PICK OFFS P/C/1B/2B – RF back up (1st cover, 2nd cover, signals & system) SS/3B/LF/CF – short fly ball communication/priority/fence work P/C/SS/3B – FL – BACK UP (3rd cover, SS cover, signals & system) 2B/1B/RF/CF – short fly ball communication/priority/fence work

6 SPECIAL SITUATIONS RUNNER ON 3B: SPECIAL SITUATIONS RUNNER ON 2B:
Ball 4 on batter / ball 4 drill…creates a 1st and 3rd Drop 3rd strike on batter – check 3rd before going to 1st Missed Squeeze Play – SS tuck in behind Option throws for infielders on ground balls / speed of ball takes you to home or 1B. Option Squeeze OF – Foul fly balls TO CATCH OR NOT TO CATCH RUNNER ON 2B: 4 Base hit creating a 1st and 3rd Ball gets by catcher, ball 4 – can create a 1st and 3rd Ball gets by catcher, strike 3 – option throw 3rd or 1st Steal 3B on ball 4 – creates 1st and 3rd BASES LOADED: 5 Ball gets by catcher, strike 3 – catcher steps on home plate Pop fly to infield, INFIELD FLY RULE – NOT CAUGHT. Runners advance, tag runners RUNNERS ON 2B AND 3B: 6 ANGLE DOWN – Play at the plate creating 1st and 3rd Squeeze, play at the plate, creating a 1st and 3rd Option Squeeze, read speed and direction

7 GAME WINNING SITUATIONS
GAME WINNING DEFESIVE SITUATIONS – PRESSURE! Entire Team 1 Runner on 2B – Base hit to outfield Runner on 3B – Fly ball to outfield Runner on 2B – Infield ground ball / knock it down and keep in infield Runner on 1B – Gapper to fence – SS/2B relay to home (Tandem and Piggy relays) Runner on 3B – Ground ball to infield, runner breaks home on infielders release to 1B, 1B/2B pops off to throw home.

8 HIT AND RUN SEQUENCE Get out at 1st because you MAY have no play at 2B
RUNNER ON 1B, HIT AND RUN / BUNT AND RUN / SLAP AND RUN 2 Get out at 1st because you MAY have no play at 2B SPEED AND DIRECTION Creates 1st and 3rd situation defense on a base hit SS or 2nd base DECOY THE RUNNER OF read speed and direction, play lead runner or keep batter off of 2B (Option Throws)
