13  Attainment of C Grades inline with the Achievement Standards  Presented their signed Gaining Year 12 Status form to the Dean of Studies, Ms Janet Schofield.  Those students who have NOT Gained Year 12 Status will be contacted for an interview. Gaining Year 12 Status

14  To achieve a WACE, students will be required to complete the Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA) and demonstrate achievement at or above a minimum standard.  The OLNA has three components – reading, writing and numeracy.  Students who achieve Band 8 or higher in the associated component of their Year 9 NAPLAN tests will be recognised as having met the standard required for that component of the OLNA.  Round One: 8 th to 24 th of March (Weeks 6&7 of Term 1)  Round Two: 29 th August to 9 th of September (Weeks 7&8 of Term 3) Literacy and Numeracy Assessment

29 28 All courses offered at Shenton College Contribute to the achievement of the Western Australian Certificate of Education ATAR - students who are aiming to enrol in university direct from school. General – students who are aiming to enter further training or the workforce directly from school. VET Certificates (Vocational Education & Training) - courses developed in consultation with industry and are nationally recognised.. 28

30 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS  Complete a Literacy and Numeracy Assessment to demonstrate a minimum standard based on skills regarded as essential for individuals to meet the demands of everyday life and work in a knowledge-based economy.  Complete a minimum of four Year 12 ATAR courses including the external examination (i.e. be eligible for an ATAR) or  complete a Certificate II or higher. To achieve a WACE students must satisfy the following:

31 BREADTH & DEPTH  Complete at least 20 units (or equivalents) including a minimum of 10 Year 12 units.  Complete two Year 11 English units and a pair of Year 12 English units.  One pair of units from a Year 12 List A (arts/languages/social sciences) course and one pair of units from a Year 12 List B course (mathematics/sciences/technologies). To achieve a WACE students must:

32 ACHIEVEMENT  Achieve a minimum of 14 C grades (or equivalent) in Year 11 and Year 12, including at least 6 C grades in Year 12 units (or equivalents). Unit equivalence can be obtained through VET and/or Endorsed Programs to a maximum of 8 units. Up to 8 unit equivalents through completed VET programs Up to 4 unit equivalents through completed Endorsed programs Up to 8 unit equivalents through a combination of VET and Endorsed Programs To achieve a WACE students must:

33 Typically, students enrolled at a school cannot sit an Authority examination as a private candidate. From 2016, private candidature in ATAR examinations will only be available to students:  seeking mature age university entrance OR  undertaking language courses through interstate offerings (e.g. Chinese: Background – NSW) OR  Undertaking European background language courses (e.g. German background language) Private Candidates

34 University Entrance  WACE requirements met.  English and Literature (ATAR) - scaled score of 50 or better.  Prerequisite courses.  TEA (Tertiary Entrance Aggregate) score is the sum of your four (4) best ATAR courses.  ATAR – Australian Tertiary Admission Rank is a percentile ranking. An ATAR high enough to gain entry into the course of choice.

35  There are a variety of Alternate pathways which facilitate university entry e.g. Portfolio (Curtin & ECU); Preparation courses (Curtin, ECU, Murdoch & Notre Dame)  Clarify all entry requirements with the relevant universities as these will vary.  English requirements may also vary. 44 VET Requirements Students must achieve the full qualification at Certificate I and II level for it to contribute towards WACE If the qualification is delivered over two years, students will need to commit to the two year training requirement Only partial Certificate III or higher qualifications with specific conditions will contribute towards WACE Qualification delivery and assessment is governed by the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Qualifications are issued through a Registered Training Provider who quality assures and validates the training and assessment of the qualification Students will need to be available on the designated times to complete practical assessments

46 A Unique Student Identifier (USI) is needed for every student undertaking nationally recognised training from 2015. For students, the USI will build an online record of their nationally recognised training. Students must have a USI before they can be issued with a statement of attainment or certificate. Students will require a USI before they can be enrolled into a qualification. The USI should be provided to the school on or before Week 5, Term 1 2016 Unique Student Identifier (USI)

47 An Authority developed endorsed program that contributes towards WACE Offered to Year 11 and 12 students. Students undertaking qualifications may have a mandated workplace requirement The Department of Education Duty of Care policy aligned to Workplace Learning contains specific processes and procedures that must be covered Career Access Program (CAP) students will be provided with a one day release workplace program to align to their training requirements Authority Developed Workplace Learning

48 Year 11 students outside of CAP will complete their placement during Flexible Curriculum during Term 2 exams and at the end of Term 4 if they do not have to sit exams.
