1 The Measure of a Man 1 Timothy 6:11-12 04 September 2011

2 1 Timothy 6: But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

5 The Measure of a Man Measured by What He Flees From 1 Corinthians 6:18
18 Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 1 Corinthians 10:14    14 Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.

6 The Measure of a Man 1 Timothy 6:11 11 But you, man of God, flee from all this, (covetousness, and the love of money) 2 Timothy 2:22 22 Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

7 1 Timothy 6:6-10 6 Now godliness with contentment is great gain
1 Timothy 6: Now godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain[c] we can carry nothing out. 8 And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. 9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

8 Colossians 3:5; 5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Ephesians 5:55 For this you know,[a] that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God

9 The Measure of a Man A. Measured by What He Flees From B. Measured by What He Follows After Make it the goal of your life to achieve these six things: · Righteousness · Godliness · Faith · Love · Patience · Meekness (Gentleness)

10 The Measure of a Man A. Measured by What He Flees From B. Measured by What He Follows After C. Measured by What He Fights For 12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

11 1 Timothy 1:18 KJV 18 Timothy, my son, I am giving you this command in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, so that by recalling them you may fight the battle well,; Zechariah 10:5 KJV 5 they shall be like mighty men, who tread down their enemies In the mire of the streets in the battle.  They shall fight because the LORD is with them, And the riders on horses shall be put to shame.

12 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 3 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. Ephesians 6: Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armour of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

13 -Don’t chicken out on the fight!
-A godly man is measured by what he fights for! There are some things that we ought to be willing to fight for in our generation. · Fight for our own personal identity as a man. · Fight the battle for personal holiness. · Fight the fight for our family. · Fight for some close godly friends. · Fight for a strong faith.

14 In Conclusion: -Fathers, it is time for us to be measured by what we flee from, follow after, and fight for!
