2 The scientific mind is different from the religious mind. A scientist looks to prove his ideas about the world. Faith alone is not enough. Coach Smith

4 The Scientific Revolution began during the Renaissance and continued through the 17 th and 18 th centuries. Coach Smith

5 Church was still main authority Geocentric universe (earth- centered) Renaissance and Reformation challenge old views Many scientists now challenge theories Coach Smith

6 People began to ask questions, to observe, and to think independently. Why, Why, Why… No longer content to turn to religion for answers, scientists wanted to know why events happened. Observation Coach Smith
