3 To find commission amount: ▫Commission = commission rate x total sales Karina works in an appliance store. She is paid 5% commission on all appliances she sells. What is her commission on the sale of a $369 television? Commission /Tax Amount

4 Many salespeople are paid a salary plus commission for the items they sell. To find the TOTAL PAY: ▫Total pay = commission + salary ▫Josh earns a weekly salary of $300 and a 6% commission on his sales. Last week, his sales totaled $3500. How much was his paycheck? Total Pay/ Total cost

5 There are two ways to find a commission rate. ▫1) Set up a percent equation.  What percent of (sales) = (commission) ▫2)Set up a proportion.  Commission/sales = Commission rate/100 The commission on a sale of a $1150 cameral is $69. What is the commission rate? Commission Rate/ Tax Rate

6 Selling Price/ Sales To find the selling price of an item: 1) Writing a percent equation. Solve ▫3 ½ % of what number is 15.75? Write a proportion. Solve. ▫3.5/1oo = 15.75/n ▫(Percent/hundred percent = commission/price of item) ▫The commission rate at a teen clothing store is 15%. Stacey earned $12 in commissions on a sale of a pair of jeans. What is the selling price of the jeans?
