Multiple sclerosis Multiple sclerosis also known as MS is a long lasting disease that can affect the brain and spinal cord causing problems with everyday things.

Causes of MS – Doctors have yet to find a cure for MS but there are things that can make it more likely to get the deadly disease. Many doctors say that smoking is one way to raise the risk of getting the awful disease as well as if you had a viral infection if could raise the risk as well. – MS is neither an autosomal dominant autosomal recessive it happens to be a autoimmune disease – MS can be sex linked – The inheritance pattern of multiple sclerosis is unknown

Causes of MS – A particular disorder might be described as if more than one person in the family has the condition. Some disorders that affect multiple family members are caused by gene mutations, which can be inherited (passed down from parent to child). Other conditions that appear to run in families are not caused by mutations in single genes. – X chromosomes are affected by MS

Facts about MS – About 2.3 million people are affected by MS in the world – MS is 2 to 3 times more common in women then men – Epidemiologists scientists who study disease patterns are looking at variations in geography, demographics (age, gender and ethnic background), genetics, infectious causes and migration patterns in an effort to understand why – Most people are diagnosed between 20 and 50 years old

Symptoms – With MS there a bunch of symptoms like fatigue, numbness or tingling, bladder problems, vision problems, depression, walking disabilities these are some of the few most common symptoms

Testing and screening – Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain and spinal cord. This test is done to confirm a diagnosis of MS. – Lumbar puncture (sometimes called a spinal tap). This test may be done to evaluate cerebrospinal fluid.... – Evoked potential testing.

Treatments – There is no current treatment for MS – As of this point MS is eventually life ending

Facts and pictures – The earliest known description of a person with possible Multiple Sclerosis dates from 14th century Holland – Multiple Sclerosis is the most common progressive and disabling neurological condition in young adults – First Diagnosed in 1849
