2 Stuffs that we will do with PowerPoint We will learn about how to use different tools in Microsoft PowerPoint. So for now we will focus on : – Creating a title or introduction – Following slides with text – Inserting pictures – inserting graphs – And adding some cool animations

3 Getting started Let us make a PowerPoint presentation for Global warming. Steps: First we need to make a title and an introduction so, Open PowerPoint first – Open up Microsoft PowerPoint by clicking on the start menu, – then click on “All Programs”, – look for Microsoft Office and click on it – Finally select Microsoft PowerPoint Making a title. After opening PowerPoint you will see a blank screen with two boxes in the middle of the screen. One of the boxes says "Click to add title," the other says "Click to add subtitle.“ – Click on “Click to add title” – Type this text, ”Global warming” – Just play around with the font by highlighting the text.

4 Introduction and text Now it’s time to make an introduction: – Click on where it says “Click to add subtitle”. – Type the following text, “A gradual increase in the overall temperature of the earth's atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide, CFCs, and other pollutants.” – Change the font-size of this text to be 18 Let’s add some text: – first select/click on “New Slide” on top of screen where it’s written Slides under Home – Select the slide with Title and Content – Right on the slide, click on “Click to add subtitle”

5 Pictures – Insert a title called “Global warming effects” and increase the font-size – Add the following text, “change in rainfall and snow patterns, increase in droughts, severe storms, reduce lake ice cover, melt glaciers, increase in sea level and change plant and animal behaviour”. – This time the effects should be written in bullet form. To do that select Bullets which appears above under Paragraph, you can select any type of bullet you want. Let us now put some pictures – Open up another slide and set the title to be “Pictures ” – Click “Insert” on top of your screen – Select and click “Picture” – Choose any picture you like and click “insert” – Change the size of the picture to fit perfectly

6 Graphs and animations Insert a graph, in this case, the graph will represent the percentage of greenhouse gases. – Click on insert again on top of your screen and, – select and click “Chart” under Illustrations – Select where it says “Column” – The x-axis should be the greenhouse gases and the y-axis be the percentage – Greenhouse gases should be, (water_vapour-20%,CO2-50%,Methane- 16%,Nitros oxide-14%) – Label your axis Finally, now let’s put everything together. We will do this by making use of some very cool animations, themes and slide shows Animations: – Go to “Animations” right on top of your screen – Click and choose any type of animation that you like to put

7 Theme Theme: – Go to “Design” right on top of your screen – Select a theme of your choice Boom!!! We are done. Now design your own PowerPoint presentation, but first think of a topic and play around with the tools. There are a lot of things you can do in PowerPoint.
