3 The Pyrenees

4 1 Day in the Pyrenees Our first day was spent exploring and learning about the Pyrenees mountain range We spent the day hiking some of the most beautiful trails on the mountain range and read these interesting facts: the mountains form a natural barrier that separates France, Spain and Andorra, which throughout history has more or less isolated each of the countries from one another International railroads and railways cross the border where the terrain is lower at the Easternmost and Westernmost regions of the mountain range The highest peak, called Pico de Aneto, rises over 3,400 meters

5 1 Day in the Pyrenees After our hike we took in the Cirque de Gavarnie, a beautiful glacial amphitheater with a waterfall backdrop and we also viewed the famous Montserrat, or “Holy Mountain”

8 2 Days in Costa Brava We spent two days relaxing on the beaches of Costa Brava, one of Catalonia’s most beautiful coastlines

12 2 Days in Barcelona We were most impressed with Barcelona, Catalonia’s capital and the most populous city in the region The city is located on the northeast coast of the Iberian Peninsula and is the second largest city in Spain

13 2 Days in Barcelona While in the city we visited the following monuments and historical places:  the Archaeological Museum of Barcelona  the Sagrada Familia  Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, the site of the 1992 Olympic Games

14 Barcelona Segrada Familia Columbus Monument; At the conclusion of Barcelona’s Most famous street, Las Ramblas National Museum of Art of Catalunya Olympic Stadium

16 Due to it’s location and climate, Tarragona is a great place for outdoor activities. We spent much of our time in Tarragona at the beaches The Roman remains throughout the city are popular sites for visitor We were able to see the Roman amphitheatre and the Roman aqueducts (Pont Del Diable) The cathedral in the middle of the city is also an example of Roman architecture

17 Last Days in Tarragona The last days of our trip we are in Tarragona. Location: Southwest Catalonia Size: 348,000 (entire urban population, 2005 Census) Sites we visit: Tarragona Amphitheatre, Roman Aqueducts (just north of the city), various beaches, via imperial
