2 Is America a Garden or Wilderness? America is considered both a garden and a wilderness depending on how you look at America. It has both positive and negative feature some places are more beautiful than others, but it all depends on your view of the world.

3 Interesting Fact William Bradford was a leader of the Pilgrims who reached New England in 1620 when America was considered a place to be feared.

4 How is Thoreau and Nature Connected? Thoreau rejected conventional life and stayed in a log cabin for 2 years. He was not fond of luxuries. He was very involved with nature.

5 Interesting Fact Thoreau’s concept of Natural World had many things in common with the Native American viewpoint, who thought the land was sacred.

6 What are Thoreau’s Views on Politics? His individualism led him to take certain radical political positions. He also spent time in jail for refusing to pay taxes that would have financed the war.

7 Interesting Fact During the Mexican-American War (1846-1848), Thoreau wrote his essay “Civil Disobedience”

8 What Were Thoreau’s Journals About? Many of his writings are based off of his journal entries.
