She brings comfort to people in nursing homes and hospitals. Reading Strategy Use Context to Confirm Meaning When reading nonfiction, readers will often come across new, unfamiliar words. One of the easiest ways to figure out a word’s meaning is to use context clues. A good reader will use the meanings of other words in the sentence to help figure out whether the decoded word makes sense. Does the word look right, sound right and make sense in the sentence.
