1 DREDGEPACK® Basics

2 DREDGEPACK® Benefits Horizontal control: - Area map shows current dredge location. - Can show other nautical charts or DXF files. Vertical control: - Color coded cells show current depth. - Profile views show current and required depth. Reporting requirements: - USACE Silent Inspector - Production control - Monitor dredge operations from a remote site. DREDGEPACK® is based on HYPACK® SURVEY – if your survey crew uses HYPACK® the move to DREDGEPACK® should be straightforward.

3 Dredge Types – Cutter Suction

4 Dredge Types - Crane

5 Dredge Types - Excavator

6 Dredge Types - Hopper

7 Dredge Types – Hopper – Custom Interfaces

8 DREDGEPACK® Matrix DREDGEPACK® requires a filled MTX.
TIN MODEL can fill a blank matrix. XYZ TO MTX can fill a blank matrix. For each matrix cell, DREDGEPACK® tracks: The ‘As Surveyed’ depth. Doesn’t change z- value. Populated in TIN MODEL. The ‘As Dredged’ depth. Initially set to ‘As Dredged’ z-value. Updated with the depth at which the cutting tool has passed through the cell. As Surveyed Matrix in NotePad X,Y of 1 Corner Matrix Length and Width Cell Resolution Matrix box rotation End of header ID Cell # Survey Depth Dredge Depth As Dredged

9 Matrix Display Selection Display Survey Depths or Dredge Depths
Both DREDGEPACK® and the HYPACK® shell can display either: As Surveyed Matrix values. As Dredged Matrix values. In HYPACK®: Right-click on Matrix Files (under Project Files listing). In DREDGEPACK®: Click Matrix menu Right Click on Matrix in Map HYPACK® Shell DREDGEPACK®

10 Matrix Options: Matrix Menu
Record Depth: Depth Project = Maximum Elevation Project = Minimum Matrix Update While Logging User must remember to start- line and end-line. Always Recommended Last Changes cell based on last observed depth in matrix cell Use uncorrected depth: Leave ‘un-checked’. Only use if you want to exclude, draft, tide and pitch and roll corrections DREDGEPACK requires user-defined MTX files. AutoMTX does not work with DREDGEPACK!

11 Filling Your MTX File with Survey Data
AVI TIN MODEL is the best place to fill your MTX with survey data. Infills anywhere the model has generated a triangle. TIN MODEL generates the ‘AS SURVEYED’ value for each matrix cell. When you first load the MTX file into DREDGEPACK®, it copies the ‘AS SURVEYED’ values in each cell to the ‘AS DREDGED’ values. DREDGEPACK® modifies the ‘AS DREDGED’ values, based on the depth and position of the digging tool. Filled MTX of Single Beam Data (100’ spacing between lines)

12 Cell Coverage Use the VULCAN.DLL to expand the cell coverage. Setup:
Also use to set the size of the bucket. Bucket Height and Width. Vertical and Horizontal Spacing: Distance of calculated depth points in bucket shape. Mobile Number: Equals Mobile # of digging tool. Bucket Height Without VULCAN driver, digging tool is a ‘point’. Only one cell is adjusted. With VULCAN tool, all cells that fall within the VULCAN dimensions are adjusted. VULCAN.DLL Setup from HARDWARE

13 CutFill.dll Tells the operator how much material is above or below the template in the Matrix cell that the cutter tool is over The template that cutfill.dll references is found in Chart/Channel and can be either a .MTX or a .CHN file A right click in the driver GUI in DREDGEPACK will give options about tolerances you are willing to give the operator and display colors

14 Genoffset.dll Can be used to track just about anything on your dredge
Offsets get placed in the setup form for this driver Left right Indicators and Station and Range in the Data display can be derived for this positions Best way to avoid a pipeline!

15 Digging Plans

16 Digging Plan Options CHN File from ADVANCED CHANNEL DESIGN
PLN File from CHANNEL DESIGN (Depreciated) Template (TPL) and Centerline (LNW) MTX design file from TIN or XYZ to MTX program Entering CHN, PLN, or TPL/LNW in DREDGEPACK® Complex dredge plan in CHN format Dredge plan in PLN format Dredge plan in MTX format

17 Entering Your Digging Plan
3 Options PLN File Made in: CHANNEL DESIGN CHN File Made in: ADVANCED CHANNEL DESIGN Change the File of type to load a MTX as a template TPL File Made in: CROSS SECTIONS & VOLUMES LNW File: Centerline Only

18 Profile Types Boat Profile Window
Perpendicular ┴ to vessel ┴ to line Arc Parallel || to vessel || to line Water level changes based on tide input. Vessel rises and sinks based on draft input. Planned Line

19 Profile Window Activate the Profile windows from the “Vessels” window.
Inside the Profile window, click on “Setup…” to gain access to the Profile Setup window. Smooth Channel profile will “Smooth” out slopes if they appear stair stepped

20 User-BMP Display in Profile Window
Copy your BMP to the \HYPACK 2012\Shapes folder. Run ‘Preparation – Editors – Dredge BMP’ Import your BMP Select your dredge type and side Set the water level reference Set the trunnion point location Save DREDGEPACK AVI DREDGE BMP Program

21 Profile Window – Direction and Orientation
Profiles: Perpendicular: For hopper and cutter suction dredge (most common). Parallel: Normally used for a hopper dredge. Arc: for cutter suction dredges. Profile Orientation: Relative to vessel Relative to planned line (if available) Relative to channel centerline (if available)

22 Profile Window – Limits and Labels
Labeling - Horizontal and Vertical: Profile limits: Min/Max Depth or Profile Width Label Interval Tic Interval : Major tics are lines across the window Marks (Mark 1 & Mark 2): Lines drawn with a different color.

23 Profile Window - Colors
Press the “Colors” button… Use sliders to adjust colors of each element.

24 Silent Inspector

25 Logging & Exporting Dredge Data
DREDGEPACK® uses the same logging methodology as HYPACK® SURVEY. (CTRL-S to start, CTRL-E to end….) In the HARDWARE program, the user can configure DREDGEPACK to begin logging (CTRL-S) automatically on starting the program. Logging can also be done using the Shared Memory Output program: Send info to ASCII TXT file or out radio modem. No S/L or E/L actions required by operator. Allows for dredge monitoring as required by contractor. USACE Silent Dredge Inspector supported with standard device driver (including XML support). SISender.DLL (for Hoppers) DQM_Mechanical.DLL (for Cranes)

26 DQM – Cutter Suction Dredges
Sends messages at user defined intervals. Populates custom drivers (next page)

27 DQM – Cutter Suction variables
NewInc.dll Does computations internal to HYPACK for production – Formulas given to us by USACE Sends data to USACE servers for compliance Ability to customize downtime events with user selections Fully compatible with USACE DQM specifications
