7 Success centres/services offer support in: o Learning skills  time management  note taking  studying techniques… o Course-related skills  Writing  Math o Mentoring/tutorials o Counselling o Career services o Access services Expanding the concept Various groups at RMC offer some of these services 7

8 RMC needs to expand its activities that enhance education: o Teaching beyond:  Technological & Pedagogical Innovations in Education o Student success beyond:  Writing Centre  Math Assist Programme Expanding the concept 8

9 RMC’s Proposal 9 Need to form a committee to assess RMC’s needs with respect to: o Teaching innovation o Student education o Best practices among Canadian Universities o Vision of end-state o Priorities o Management within RMC  Financing  Organizational structure

10 Committee o Representatives from:  3 Faculties + Division of Continuing Studies  3 Institutions: –RMC in Kingston, –RMCSJ in St Jean, –Canadian Forces College in Toronto  Teaching Excellence Award winners  Training Wing  Undergraduate and graduate representatives  Representative from Canadian Defence Academy (CDA)  Vice-Principal Academic RMC’s Proposal 10

11 RMC will staff a Request for Funding (RFF) to the RMC Club Foundation. The request will be in support of this initiative and will be for $10K from the RMC Class of ’65. Funding to be used by the Committee for travel during this FY. RMC to provide feedback on the study to the Class of ’65. Further steps to be determined in consultation with the Class of ‘65 upon completion of the study. Next steps 11
