2 What is it? An eye condition characterized by irregular curvature of the cornea

3 What causes it? Caused by the lens and cornea not being perfectly symmetrical The cornea or lens have an irregular shap such a the shape of a football Can ne hereditary Also caused by bad posture & increased use of the eye

4 Effects of Astigmatisms Loss of focus Causes difference of power in eye along the meridians

5 Astigmatisms Anyone can have them Mild astigmatisms may have no symptoms More severe symptoms include: Headaches Eye strain or fatigue Squinting Blurred vision at all distances Holding reading material closer than normal

6 Treatment Astigmatisms can be treated with glasses or contacts No treatment is needed for many mild astigmatisms
