1 Bridges + U = Success!

2 What is Bridges? This program supports the creation of community learning centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities during non-school hours for children The program helps students meet state and local student standards in core academic subjects, such as reading and math. Offers students a broad array of enrichment activities that can complement their regular academic programs. Offers students a broad array of enrichment activities that can complement their regular academic programs. Offers literacy and other educational services to the families of participating children.

3 What is Bridges continued? Grant given through 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) Proposed activities target students and families of students who attend schools eligible for Title I school-wide programs or schools that serve a high percentage of students from low-income families.

4 Bridges Schedule Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday Tuesday through Thursday focus on math (Kendra) Friday Morning- Book Reviews (Liz) Friday Afternoon- Fun! ( RECLAIM YOUR WEEKEND) 1 hour enrichment activities each day (Friday until 4:30) 15 students per grade in grades 3 – 5 (including 2 student leaders) Small group instruction 1:8 teacher/student ratio

8 Session Schedules Session I October 4-December 9 Session II Jan 10-March 2 Session III April 17- May 30 The same children will be encouraged to attend ALL 3 session so we can see true growth You may work one session or all 3!
