3 What to Expect Subject Verb Agreement – Deciding whether or not sentences and verbs “agree” with a sentence. Indefinite Pronouns – Selecting the correct pronoun to refer back to the original noun. Comma Usage – Selecting the sentences that have proper comma placement.

4 Reading Comprehension “Right There” When he was nearly thirteen, my brother Jem got his arm badly broken at the elbow. When it healed, and Jem's fears of never being able to play football were assuaged, he was seldom self-conscious about his injury. His left arm was somewhat shorter than his right; when he stood or walked, the back of his hand was at right angles to his body, his thumb parallel to his thigh. 8 Indefinite Pronouns  Pronouns refer back to a noun stated earlier (or assumed)  Pronouns must: Agree in number, Agree in person, refer to a clearly stated noun  If a student does not wish to participate, he or she probably won’t receive a good grade.  If they don’t want a good grade, they probably don’t want to participate.
