3 PREPRODUCTION Director: the person who controls the actors and the filming Producer: the person who gets the money and puts the project together Storyboard: a panel or series of panels on which a set of sketches is arranged depicting consecutively the important changes of scene and action in a series of shots (as for a film, television show, or commercial). Location: the places where the film is shot. Props: items used in a film to give it realism. Costumes Auditions

4 PRODUCTION Filming Cinematographer: director of photography Gaffer: the head electrician. Grip: the person who builds and moves the sets Best Boy: an assistant to the gaffer or the grip

6 Misc. Terms Product Placement: putting brand name products in a film to make money. The Willful Suspension of Disbelief: –This happens when we accept things happening in a movie that we know can’t happen in real life. –If it’s too far out or the movie has a goof (like a visible boom mic), this “kicks out” and we don’t like the movie. –Willful suspension of disbelief is helped by music, SFX, etc. Music can make a film memorable, or it can ruin it.
