Water is a huge part of life. We see it all around us, even when we may not know it. We use water everyday in some way, shape, or form. The are three stages of water solid, liquid and gas. These three stages can make up the water cycle. The Water Cycle can be a very complex thing. Water cycles through a process, we often use or hear the terms; evaporation, precipitation, condensation, but may now know what they mean exactly. About 75 percent of the earth is made up of water.

How many processes make up the water cycle? There are several key components that are included in the water cycle. 1. Condensation - the opposite of evaporation. Condensation occurs when a gas is changed into a liquid. 2. Runoff - Much of the water that returns to Earth as precipitation runs off the surface of the land, and flows down hill into streams, rivers, ponds and lakes. 3. Evaporation - the process where a liquid, in this case water, changes from its liquid state to a gaseous state. 4. Precipitation - When the temperature and atmospheric pressure are right, the small droplets of water in clouds form larger droplets and precipitation occurs. The raindrops fall to Earth.

You are going to imagine your life as a water droplet. You will be able to understand each step of the water cycle. You will be able to understand how the water cycle works. You will complete the various activities throughout the process part.

Step 1: Watch Thirstin’s Water Cycle video http://www.epa.gov/ogwdw/kids/flash/flash_watercycle.ht ml http://www.epa.gov/ogwdw/kids/flash/flash_watercycle.ht ml Step 2: Go to BrainPopJr and watch water cycle video then complete the hard quiz. Please print out the quiz and hand it in when completed. Then label parts of the water cycle on the worksheet in the talk about section. Make sure to print it out and hand it in as well. http://www.brainpopjr.com/science/weather/watercycle/pre view.weml

Step 3: Find the definitions of each main part of the water cycle; evaporation, condensation, and precipitation, by exploring the website below and then complete worksheet. www.kidszone.ws/water-www.kidszone.ws/water- Definitions http://bogglesworldesl.com/files6/watercycle_cloze.doc -Print the worksheet, complete it, then hand it in. Step 4: Go to the website below, it is an interactive game. Drag the certain concepts to where each step takes place. http://www.athena.bham.org.uk/old/WCjumbled.htm

Your last step is to write a creative writing piece as if you were a water droplet. Please make sure to include every process in the water cycle that you have learned. This assignment will be take for a grade. Now lets start writing!

CriteriaIndicators Needs Improvement 0 Good 1 Very Good 2 Excellent 3 Form -Spelling -Grammar -Sentence Structure 5-6 errors 3-4 errors 1-2 errors No errors and great sentence structure. Key Concept Stages of the water cycle are present No stages of the water cycle are used. Little detail used in describing the water cycle. Most details of the water cycle are present. All stages of the water cycle are present. Creativity Students use creativity to describe life as a water droplet. Story was short and lack details to make it interesting. Very little creativity, but story was developing. Student used some creativity but story didn’t flow well. Student used lots of detail and the writing flowed nicely.

Water travels in a cycle, yes it does. It goes up as evaporation, Forms clouds of condensation, Falls down as precipitation, yes it does!
